From before they’re born until they’re grown, you promise to take the very best care of your child. CHI Health St. Francis is your partner in keeping your child safe. Nearly 1,000 babies are born at St. Francis each year. We treat infants and children in our emergency room, operating rooms, and pediatrics department—many as the result of preventable injuries. We have a special interest in seeing children grow into healthy adults.
Child Safety Seats Inspection Program
Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for children. Properly installed child safety seats used every time your child is in a vehicle can help keep him or her protected in an accident.
The Child Safety program at St. Francis offers child safety seat inspections and safety education for any age of child. Whether a newborn, toddler, or “big kid,” we can help you learn which type of car seat is best for your child and the type of vehicle you’re driving. We’ll teach to you install it correctly and buckle up your child securely.
Our education isn’t only for parents. Grandparents, aunts and uncles, child care providers, and anyone who is charged with safely transporting a child are welcome to make an appointment.

When to change your car seats
Use your current Car Seat until your child reaches the maximum weight or height listed on the label. There is no need to rush on to the next car seat or booster seat. Every step forward too soon reduces safety just a bit. Children should ride in a rear-facing car seat until they are 2 years old.
