Our cancer outreach coordinator provides education about the importance of cancer prevention and early detection to Grand Island and its surrounding communities through displays and presentations at health fairs and various organizations. St. Francis Cancer Treatment Center is particularly focused on spreading awareness to those who have less access to cancer prevention and care services.
- Breast Cancer Awareness Kiosk – Our two touch-screen computer kiosks travel to a different location each month, one in Grand Island and one in an outlying rural community. The kiosk contains a brief questionnaire designed to educate women on breast cancer risk factors and encourage yearly mammograms.
- Cancer Resource Corners – Five public libraries across Nebraska have dedicated space to cancer information. The Cancer Resource Corners include a web resource maintained by the Nebraska Cancer Coalition that directs users to reputable cancer information sources, as well as a display of printed materials on topics including prevention, diagnosis, treatment and survivorship.
