Our Healing Care Team
Our care team includes two Nurse Practitioners and a Registered Nurse, certified in Wound, Ostomy, and Continence. We are able to consult with a variety of other experts when needed, including:

  • General and Orthopedic surgeons
  • Podiatrists
  • Dietitians
  • Diabetes educators
  • Social services
  • Physical therapists
  • Occupational therapists
  • Orthotists

Our staff follows treatment guidelines from the Wound Ostomy Continence Society. Individualized care recommendations are made based on established research and cost-effective treatment. We emphasize patient and family education on preventive measures and disease management to optimize healing. We work closely with general surgeons on the Saint Francis Medical Staff, led by Dr. Steven Schneider, who serves as medical director for our program.

Individual healing programs
Following an initial consultation, our care team will develop a treatment program based on your specific needs. This program will include regular visits to our clinic to provide treatment, evaluate progress, and make any needed changes. We provide you or your caregiver with detailed instructions regarding home care, nutrition, dressing changes, and protection of the wound from further injury.

Communication with referring physicians
The Saint Francis Wound/Ostomy Healing staff will share its findings with your referring physician regarding your treatment and progress. You will continue to follow with your primary care physician for routine medical care.
