Amenities and Services

While hospital visits can be stressful, Saint Francis offers several amenities to help make inpatient and outpatient visits pleasant and comfortable.

ATM Machine
On the Medical Center campus, an ATM can be found in the lobby of the patient tower near the cafeteria. Please ask for directions at the Information Desk.

Mylar balloons can be purchased at the Visiting Ours Gift Shop or brought into the hospital.  Please note that Saint Francis is a latex-free environment and latex balloons are not allowed anywhere in the hosptial.  

Saint Francis Medical Center Cafeteria is located just inside the Main Entrance and is open seven days a week, 6:30 a.m.-7 p.m. Vending machines are available in the cafeteria 24 hours a day.

The Memorial Health Center Cafeteria is open Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m.-6 p.m., and on Fridays, 7 a.m.-4 p.m. The Memorial Health Center Cafeteria is not open on weekends.

Patient Room Service is available for all patients and visitors (there is a charge for visitors room service). First call will be taken at 6:30 a.m. and the last call will be taken at 7 p.m.

Chapels and Meditation Rooms
Our Chapels and Meditation Rooms are available to all patients, families and visitors. You are encouraged to visit any time.

The Saint Francis Chapel is located in the outpatient center close to the Main ACC and next to the Pastoral Services Department.

The Good Samaritan Chapel is located on the third floor of the Memorial Health Center.

Meditation Rooms are in the Saint Francis Medical Center Tower, located on floors 3-7 next to the waiting room on these floors. Please ask a staff member if you need assistance locating one of our Chapels or Meditation Rooms.

Mass is celebrated in the Saint Francis Chapel at 11 a.m. on Wednesdays and can be viewed in patient rooms on channel 19.

Computers and Cell Phones
Free wireless Internet access is available at the Medical Center campus and at Memorial Health Center. Select "GuestInternet" from your wireless networks menu to connect. Cell phones can be used throughout the hospital except in places where electronic monitoring is used.

Guest House
The Saint Francis Guest House is ideal for family members of hospital patients. It is also convenient for patients scheduled for early morning tests or procedures. In addition, all outpatients are welcome to stay while they are involved in treatment or rehabilitation.

The Guest House is located on the Medical Center campus and offers quiet comfortable rooms as well as a library, commons area and patio.

Guests may check into the Guest House at either Outpatient Admissions located inside the G Entrance or at the Inpatient Admissions Department located inside the main tower entrance.

Payment for your stay is due at the time you check in. You may pay by cash, check, MasterCard, Visa or Discover. Call (308) 398-5395 for Guest House rates.

Mail and Flowers
Volunteers will deliver mail to inpatient rooms each morning and flowers as they arrive. For infection prevention, live flowers are not permitted in ICU. If you receive mail after you are dismissed, it will be sent to your home address or facility where you are transferred.

Newspapers and Magazines
A complimentary newspaper, the Grand Island Independent, is available upon request. The Omaha World Herald and other newspapers are sold in racks outside the Main Entrance of the hospital. Volunteers occasionally round with a magazine cart.

Visitors should park in the main parking lot. The parking area is located directly outside the Main Entrance.

Several patient parking areas are available and are located close to the related patient services. Please see the map for parking areas, entrances and directions.

Vending Machines
At Saint Francis Medical Center, vending machines offering snacks and beverages are located:

  • Just inside the Main Entrance by the cafeteria
  • On each floor, near elevators
  • Across from the Outpatient Surgery waiting area
  • In the Emergency Department waiting area

At Memorial Health Center, vending machines are available on the lower level across from the elevator.

Visiting Hours
Loved ones play an important role in the healing process. At Saint Francis Medical Center, we welcome our patients' families and friends 24 hours a day as long as the patient's condition allows. Visitors arriving after 6 p.m. are asked to check in at the Information Desk.

An adult must accompany all children who visit the hospital. Please check with the patient's nurse before bringing children into the patient's room.
